This year has had many ups and downs. I had new job opportunities, graduating college, finally getting my dream truck, and growing my relationships with friends and family. It’s had its downs too. Physical therapy for six months, injuries and sickness to my family, weird weather phenomenon, and severing ties with those who have used me. Yet, through it all, I am thankful. I am thankful for the new growth, knowledge, and skills I have learned.
On top of all of this, I learned what love truly is. It’s not the candy hearts they sell at Valentine’s Day, the amount of gifts you get on Christmas, or the cards you get in the mail. Love is spending time with those you care about and not letting excuses stand in your way. Sure, people may come into your life and spend everyday for a month with you, but then they may disappear. That’s not love. That’s using you for a tool for their purposes. People can come up with many excuses, often blaming you for never being there enough, yet you were the only one committed. They never reached out or spent that time with you.
1 John 4:16
“We have known and have believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who remain in love remain in God and God remains in them.”
Proverbs 8:17
“I love those who love me; those who seek me will find me.”
It’s a hard lesson to learn, but one everyone must eventually. They will always play the victim, yet never admit their mistakes. That brings me to my next point. There is a true love that will ALWAYS exist. It’s the true love of our Lord. Some of you may be rolling your eyes, but His love has been the most consistent in my life. I’m not saying my parents don’t love me or anything of that sort, but it’s the truest love I’ve ever felt. Even in my darkest days, I can talk to Him. Middle of the night? No problem, He is there for me.
Romans 8:38-39
“I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created.”
The Lord has given us a life guide called the Bible in order for us to know what to do. How great is that?!? He allows us to directly talk to Him, bring Him our problems, and ask for help. He doesn’t care if we’re rich, poor, or lonely. HE WILL BE THERE! Isn’t that great? Now, imagine if others haven’t heard of this love? They don’t know that there is always Someone there, listening to them, mourning with them, celebrating with them. That is our job. In order to receive His, you must accept Jesus into your heart and tell others about Him.
Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the life that I now live in my body, I live by faith, indeed, by the faithfulness of God’s Son, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Even if you feel embarrassed, just think of the eternal life they will get. You have a chance now to save them. That’s love! Please share the Word with them so that they may live together with you upstairs! It is up to us to plant the mustard seed. It’s their choice to let it grow.
John 3:16
“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him won’t perish but will have eternal life.”
